Dr. Donald Epstein

For the past two decades, Dr. Donald Epstein has been at the forefront of wellness development within the chiropractic profession. Dr. Epstein is the developer of Network Spinal Analysis and Somato Respiratory Integration, as well as author of three books. His models of wellness, spinal and neural integrity, outcome assessments and Somatic Awareness have been studied by numerous universities and have been subject for several major research projects. Dr. Epstein is a leader in world-wide wellness as well as one of the true sages and genuine visionaries of growth, human potential and body/mind healing.

Lecture:

Introduction to Network Spinal Analysis Care: Clinical Application and Basic Science Research

This presentation will present an overview of the concepts, objectives and research of Network Spinal Analysis Care. The objectives of NSA Care are:

A. Promote practice member (patient) self-awareness of the spinal structures, including gross and subtle movement of spinal structures, spinal and somatic tension patterns, associated participation with the respiratory system, and responses to stress;

B. Initiate the production of spontaneous, self-generated somatopsychic responses that are postulated to dissipate tension or stored energy from the active, passive, and neural control subsystems described by Panjabi (1992);

C. Promote or maintain through the active, passive, and neural control sub-systems, and the meningeal and emotional subsystems as described by Epstein (1997) those elements of spinal integrity that increase neural effectiveness, enhancing the body's ability to self-organize;

D. Detect and enhance the availability of the Spinal Gateway TM contacts for self assessment and self organization;

E. Detect the presence of indications of adverse mechanical spinal cord tension, and associated altered states of spinal and neural integrity;

F. Administer safe and effective applications of low force to affect the nervous system's capacity to enhance precognitive and cognitive self-awareness;

G. Promote self-regulation of adverse mechanical spinal cord tension through the natural oscillatory patterns of associated tissues via administrations of specific low force touch made by hand;

H. Evaluate the efficacy of the above by relating NSA application to practice member (recipients of NSA care) self-ratings regarding their wellness and quality of life;

I. Conduct research to investigate hypotheses linked to the objectives of NSA care.
Also including in the presentation will be discussion of: client based self reported wellness outcomes; emerging models of spinal reorganization; and wellness and somatic education.

Workshop:

Network Spinal Analysis: A Wellness Approach to the Emerging Properties of the Spine and Life

The workshop will demonstrate and introduce attendees to clinical application of Network Spinal Analysis Care. Presented in this section will be: spinal sub-system – assessment and analysis; determining presence of adverse mechanical cord tension; parameters of specific spinal cord tension patterns; NSA Care clinical protocol and procedures; NSA Care Phasing System and force applications. Also demonstrated in this workshop will be unique NSA Care strategies including: the respiratory wave; somatopsychic wave; spinal oscillation and spinal entrainment.
